Short Finger will be serving beer from 8pm until 10pm as part of the Comedy in the Green series put on by KWFamous at Vogelsang Green.

Short Finger will be hosting our third annual summer short can event. With short cans available from us and some of our friends in the Ontario brewing scene, there will also be music from Pkewx3 and others. 

August 10th Boozy Bootcamp w/ Rise Fitness

Join us at SFBC with Rise Fitness for Boozy Bootcamp part of their Summer Social. A 40 minute Bootcamp!! Afterward, go for a post workout beer and can hang out. Check them out at Rise KW

August 11th Comedy in the Green

Short Finger will be serving beer at Vogelsang Green on the corner of Queen St N and Duke St from 8pm until 10pm as part of the Comedy in the Green series put on by KWFamous.

July 9th Among Legends and Guests at 7pm

Come down to Short Finger to see Among Legends with guests Suplex City, Block Parent and Burnaby. Doors open at 7pm. Pay What You Can with all proceeds going to Sanguen Health Centre. Show is 19+.

Bear Friends - BRFC Anniversary Celebration!! Sat. Sept. 21st 11am-4pm 

One year ago our good friend and collaborator Jon Johnson started renting office space right above our tap room. He's a great guy and also a great designer! To celebrate one year at SFBC, Jon is putting together a market with all of his favourite local creatives, and we brewed a beer with him to help mark the occasion! 

WitchStock - Sat. Sept 28th

Rob is heading down to Witchstock, Bellwoods Brewery's annual beer festival celebrating all things amazing in beer from around the province and the world. If you want tickets, at last check they were still available here.

(Who Shot) Liberty Valance Release Gala - Thurs. Oct 3rd

We're finally releasing (one of) the very first beers brewed in our brewery. Back in early 2018, Jeff Broeders (The King of Curd/Head Brewer at Indie Ale House) came over to help fill some barrels with a funky sour. After 18 months of waiting, and some top secret blending maneuvers, its ready. Come celebrate in style!  

Summer Short Can! - Saturday, August 17th from 1-10pm

We've got our next installment of our Short Can Series! It's a whole lot of the same fun you know and love with brand new Short Cans! Expect some brand new releases from Short Finger and plenty of delicious beers and ciders available in perfect 355ml quantities. Come as you are, no tickets required. See you on the 17th! 

June 26th, July 3rd, 10th & 17th - Midweek Market At The Kitchener Market

We're joining up with Revel Cider to provide fun midweek afternoon drinking fun! Find a rotating list of beers and ciders from week to week from 4 to 8pm, for these four weeks. There's also plenty of produce vendors, food options and local artisans. 

Saturday, June 29th - Funk Fest! 

We're heading back up to Gravenhurst for our third straight year to pour alongside the rest of Ontario's amazing sour beer producers! Head over to FunkFest.beer to grab tickets so you don't miss out! 

 

Sunday, July 7th - Homebrew Tap Takeover

We're teaming up with the True Grist members who participated in our Canadian National Homebrew Day to raise money for The Working Centre. Come enjoy a wide range of unique brews produced by local homebrewers, and contribute to an organization doing amazing work in our local community. 

June 1st - First Annual Canadian National Homebrew Day at SFBC
Brew day is open to anyone, if you want to join in sign up. You need to bring your own brewing equipment, we recommend brewing as groups so reach out to other homebrewers. SFBC will be providing water and limited powers. More details will be sent out to those that sign up here.

April 20th - Submission Deadline for Big Homebrew Competition

It’s competition time, friends. This time around, we’re teaming up with the fine folks from Barncat Artisan Ales and Escarpment Labs for one of our most eccentric lineups yet. We’re calling it Big. It is.

2018

September 21st: Brawl in the Fall                                                              

We are partying with our neighbours at Grand River Rocks. GRR is Kitcheners local climbing gym and they are hosting an in house climbing competition. Once you are done climbing Short Finger will be pouring beers to be paired with food from The Wooden Boat Food Co.. Who are our other neighbours! Come check out what is going on in the neighborhood.

We released three new beers: Lando, Hey Beautiful, and Close Your Eyes (and Count to Funk)

June 21 - Solstice is Coming Malt Sale & First Bottle Release
Our second annual Solstice is Coming bulk grain sale was partnered up with our first-ever bottle release. We also poured beers by the glass all day long. Our first release included: Ain't No Sunshine, G Lite Foote, and So it Gose.

May 5th - SFBC Big Brew Day (with True Grist) & TBN Award Ceremony 
We had 10+ homebrew systems set up in our parking lot. It was a day of brewing and celebrating the winners of our TBN homebrew competition. 

March 28th - SFBC Homebrew Hangout featuring Together We're Bitter Brewing Co-op
A sensory challenge featuring TWB's wobbly wheel, fermented with 8 different yeast strains. 

February 9th - Short Can Warehouse Party
We threw a sweet party in our new, empty space.

January 31st - SFBC Homebrew Hangout featuring Barn Cat Artisan Ales
It was a good one. If you missed it, there is always next year.

2017

November 29 - SFBC Homebrew Hangout featuring the Draft Beer Project 
Great evening at the shop thanks to Jeff from the Draft Beer Project. Lots of great information on setting up and maintaining your own system.

November 4 - AHA Learn to Homebrew Day
We opened up our back door and invited current & future homebrewers in to share in a brew day with the Kitchener-Waterloo Craft Beer Club.

October 29 - Royal Finger Homebrew Competition Award Ceremony
We announced and celebrated the winners of the Short Finger x Royal City Homebrew Competition. The award ceremony featured an SFBC x Royal City collaboration brew that was only available that day. 

September 27 - SFBC Homebrew Hangout Featuring Revel Cidery.
Tariq and Stephen invited us into their space to share and talk about wild fermented ciders. We also featured two beer & cider blends for the event.

August 30 - SFBC Homebrew Hangout featuring TWB
Featuring a technical talk from Rob, along with both Culum and Peter from Together We're Bitterthis night was all about Dairy Jaws, our collaborative milkshake IPA. Check out the blog post if you missed the hangout.

July 26 - SFBC Homebrew Hangout featuring Kevin Freer of Block 3 Brewing
Kevin delivered a great technical talk and Q&A about sour kettles and other quick sour techniques. SFBC and Block 3 brewed a sour beer for the event that was (dry) hopped using only Cryo hops.

May 31st - SFBC Homebrew Hangout, Second Annual Big Bottle Share
One year after our first Big Bottle Share, it was time to do it again. This time, we took advantage of an empty back room for the last time before Rob filled it up with brewing equipment. In addition to the bottle share, we featured the first prototype brew to come off the new system.

June 9 - Angie's Craft Beer and Rock & Roll
Celebrating the re-launch of Angie's Country Kitchen in St. Agatha, this night featured home cooked food and brews of several local breweries. We were happy to be a part of it.

June 21 - Solstice is Coming Malt Sale 
We opened our doors early and closed them late in order to celebrate the Summer Solstice with our semi-annual malt sale. 10 bag bulk pricing on all full bags of malt + deals on 1 and 4lb bags. 

April - SFBC Homebrew Hangout featuring Kyle Wynette of Tavistock Hops
This was an excellent Hangout. Thanks so much to Kyle for giving a great informative talk on growing and harvesting your own hops. Rhizomes were available for pick-up at this event.

April 12 - Guided Mead Tasting
We brought Kathy Yan Li into the shop to show us how it's done. She's a certified mead judge, beer judge, AHA board member, and all around badass.

April 2nd - SFBC X GLB HOP SHOP IPA CHALLENGE AWARDS CEREMONY x Mini Tap Takeover
We took over the taps at Arabella Park and awarded the winners of our Hop Shop IPA Challenge. It was perhaps too much fun, but we wouldn't have it any other way.

February - SFBC Homebrew Hangout featuring True Grist Homebrew Club
We brewed a gruit and did a split batch fermentation with 3 different yeasts. The results were... interesting. 

January - SFBC Homebrew Hangout featuring Barncat Artisanal Ales
On January 1, we dragged our hungover selves out of bed to zest & juice over 100 lbs of clementines, which we then used in a brew down at Barncat. On this night, we set up shop at Arabella Park Bar and enjoyed the resulting hazy IPA, Pulp.

December 31 - END OF THE WORLD MALT SALE!
All full bags of grain were priced at our regular 10-bag bulk pricing. We also had sales on our 1 and 4lb bags. 

November 26 - SFBC Grand (Soft) Opening
We did it, it was awesome! Thanks to everyone that came out.

October 27th - SFBC Homebrew Hangout, Cider Edition
Thanks to the Boathouse and KW Craft Cider for a great evening and some delicious ciders!

September Homebrew Hangout featuring Half Hours on Earth
This event featured "mmmDandy" a Sour Cherry Creamsicle Ale brewed as a collaboration between SFBC and Half Hours On Earth. We were pleased to be able to bring the first ever keg of HHOE beer to Waterloo Region, and to share it with a great group of people down at The Bent Elbow.

August 24th - SFBC Locals Only Beer Dinner with Elora Brewing Co.
The event featured 5 beers paired with 5 courses. 3 of the feature beers were collaborative brews between SFBC and Elora Brewing Co. The focus was on using local ingredients to brew our beer and then pairing those beers with locally sourced food. The high light brew was a tie between the King's Peach - peach saison and the "New Berlin Weiss" - tart Berliner Weiss both using Escarpment Yeast Labs yeast.

July 17th - SFBC The War of 1812 Homebrew Competition Award Ceremony & Tap Takeover
What a great Sunday afternoon. Thanks to everyone that came out and Jane Bond for hosting. Congrats to all the winners in the competition!

June 29th - SFBC Homebrew Hangout Featuring Grand River Brewing
This hangout featured a Simcoe - Maris Otter SMSH collab brew between Rob and the head brewer of Grand River Brewing Peter Collins. Peter did an excellent talk about recipe development. Thanks to Grand River brewing for hosting our first even in Cambridge.

May 25th - SFBC Homebrew Hangout Featuring Short Finger Brewing Co.
This invite-only Hangout was the first event in our new space and served as a big thank you to all those that have ordered and supported SFBC through the opening process. The night featured a blind tasting of a special SFBC brew and our first Big Bottle Share.

April 27th - SFBC Homebrew Hangout Featuring Great Lakes Brewery
Hosted by Kick Off  and bartended by Bill, this event featured a collaboration brew between SFBC and Great Lakes Brewery. The crew from GLB came out including head brewer Mike Lackey. 

March 15th - What Ales Ya - Irish Style Beer Tasting.
We partner up with Marc from the Princess Cafe to host an Irish beer tasting as part of the Irish Real Life Festival. Tickets were $30.00/ person and the tasting featured beers from Innocente Brewing, Together We're Bitter Brewing Co-op, Descendents Brewing, Beaus, and a specialty one-off beer just for the Princess Cafe by Wellington Brewery.

March 30th - SFBC and Together We're Bitter Ethiopian Beer Dinner
In lieu of a regular Homebrew Hangout, we were happy to cohost our first Beer Dinner with the fine folks from Together We're Bitter Brewing. The fun kicked off at the East African Cafe, 30 Ontario St. S. Kitchener ON, at 7:00pm and featured 3 courses and 4 beers. We wanted to do something special to welcome TWB into the community. 

March 6th - SFBC Sub-Zero Homebrew Competition Award Ceremony
We got together for a collaborative tap-takeover with Block 3 Brewing Co. as well as the official award ceremony at Jand Bond in Uptown Waterloo. 

Feb 24th - SFBC Homebrew Hangout featuring Four Fathers Brewing Co.
We hosted a hangout at B@THEMUSEUM featuring 2 collab beers and a super rad, super technical talk on dry hopping by Kevin Freer, head brewer of Four Fathers Brewing Co.

January 27th - SFBC Homebrew Hangout featuring Escarpment Labs
Meeting at The Princess Cafe this night featured all things yeast with Richard, Angus and Nate from Escarpment Yeast Laboratories in Guelph.
