Tasting Manifesto

It is with absolute, unbridled excitement that we present to you Short Finger’s tasting room. It’s definitely not a final product, but having been in the planning stages since long before Rob and Kat launched Short Finger out of their basement over three years ago, it’s finally feeling way closer to finished than not. I wanted to take a quick second out of your non-stop growing excitement for Pulp to introduce myself, and let you know what you’ll be able to expect, both this weekend as we launch our bar ever so softly, and also for the weeks and months to come.

I’m Stuart and I jumped on the Short Finger bandwagon over two years ago, when my sister and brother bought me my first homebrew kit for Christmas. I used my newfound passion for crafting beer to secure a job bartending at the soon to be opening Arabella Park Beer Bar. Here, I got to know Rob’s razor-sharp palate and brutal honesty and Kat’s passion and unending kindness. Through many pints and conversations over that bar, I slowly convinced Rob that when he was ready to start building the brewery and bar, I would be the person to help. Since joining Short Finger officially in early 2018, we’ve Short Can-ned together (with the help of the ever wonderful Stephen Cleary), launched a bottle shop, tasted through many, many barrels, launched an online bottle store and now, a full-blown tasting room.

Pulp is coming together beautifully, and we’re incredibly excited to share it with you. We’d love for you all to come join us on Thursday night at Willibald Farm Distillery for the official launch, with our’s and Barncat’s versions, along with a couple other offerings. For those who can’t make it, or those who need a second helping, join us on Friday night at the brewery. We’ll have some tasty treats on tap, we’ll be pulling out some special bottles we’ve squirreled away, and we'll serving up tasty treats from our wonderful neighbours at Wooden Boat.

I can’t wait to begin this journey with all of you. The biggest thing you can count on from the Short Finger taproom is that it will change. Our beer is deeply rooted in tradition and is a constant workshop in balance. We're approaching your experience in our space the same way. We aren’t here to be flashy. We’re here to make you as comfortable as you can be, while making sure that whatever is in your glass is tasting the best it ever has. So while the passion always remains the same, as the world and the beer and the taste changes around us, we look forward to ducking and weaving and pivoting and transforming to provide the best possible experience for you.

And we hope you enjoy.
